The Trident Deception

I loved this book so much, it had basically everything. It had a tiny bit of romance and tons of action and adventure. I do not even know how to write about this book it was just so good. It dealt with the Israeli Palestine conflict and It had a short chapter from the view of a suicide bomber. The sub talk was utterly spot on which was a main part of the entire movie. So please read this even if you don't think you will like because of this description but read it please.

Dreamwalker - C. S. Friedman

This book if focused on this girl, Jessica Drake, who after a  DNA test is proven to not be the her mother and fathers daughter. Although her mother clearly remembers never seeing any mix up and the foot prints of the baby "Jessica" and the presents are the same.  The DNA proves differently. After a mysterious woman shows up asking about Jessica's dreams and her fractal-art she gets nervous. After researching about changelings she finds a global community of people like her, she eventually meets two of them who live quite near to her, named Devon and Rita, and the three of them strike up a lovely relationship. But when Jessica's brother is kidnapped by some creepy gray people she must go on a fantastical quest to find her brother and determine who she really is.

This book was very good, I don't like fantasy that much but this book really made it seem like a cool genre. There was some action the characters were believable and I really enjoyed the ideas and the new ways of exploring alien worlds. Oops gave it away, luckily NO ONE will read this, except maybe Max or Kam. Anywho, this was a great book, had lots of descriptions of emotions and soundings which made everything more believable.

Adrift by Steve Callahan

I really enjoyed this book, it was a survival story about Steve Callahan who gets in a shipwreck buy an unknown object. He then had to survive 76 days out in sea, the book was basically like life of Pi but much harder and this book seemed more realistic. There were more storms and fishing wasn't such a walk in the park as it was in life of Pi. And there was much more action and the same amount of background about the guy and what he had been doing prior to the wreck and how he got into it. All in all I really liked this book, and if you like a little realistic, action than this is the book for you.

Th1rteen R3asons Why by Jay Asher

This book was really depressing, as Hannah the narrator of the suicide tapes tells us about the thirteen reasons why she killed herself we learn more about the thirteen different people and about the main charter Clay. I really couldn't tell when the movie was set, they had walk mans but also cellphones so I'm guessing the nineties. It was really sad listening to all of the terrible things that all of the people did to Hannah, and there was a lot of emotion in this book which was something I picked up on pretty fast. Anywho, I really liked the book and I read his other book The Future of Us, so he is a good writer who likes writing about girls and their problems.

Journey to the Center of the Earth - Jules Vern

This was an awesome book, it had adventure and action. The plot was so amazing, the creativity that it took to come up with this book was amazing. Considering this book is a hundred years old, Vern did a great job. Basically Axel and his uncle Professer Lindenbrock decode this message left by Arne Saknussemm which tells of volcanic tubes that go down to the center of the earth. They travel to Iceland where they meet a guide know as Hans and travel to the mountain of Sneffels. They travel almost 60 miles beneath the surface of the Earth and find the most surprising thing.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good adventure story

The Future of Us

This book is about a sixteen year old girl, Emma, who gets a new computer from her dad, her friend gives her a CD-ROM. When Emma gets on the internet she is instantly logged into face book, but Facebook hasn't been invented. She can see the posts and information about people, fifteen years into the future. Now Emma can see her future husband and all of her friends, their jobs and spouses in the future.

I thought this book was really good, it was well written and the plot was well developed. The characters were really believable and weren't, I felt, stereotypical teenagers. I thought how even when she thought she was going to go to a different college, because she was a junior, it changed her entire future. I would really recommend it.

Injury

So as you all know I like to play a little rough with my siblings, I was at my sisters private soccer practice and we were doing just that. I was pulling my sister around and then knocking here over when she got up. I was doing this and she decided to kick me, I know how to handle a kick because that is how my brother fights back. I grabbed her leg and flipped it over her head, I only meant it as a joke but the back of her head slammed against the ground and she was really dazed.

My Dad, being the "expert" questioned her about the date and who we all were, and she got all of them right. Still we decided to give her three words to remember, five minuets later we asked her and she couldn't remember them. She then started complaining about her stomach and that she was dizzy. I got really nervous because I already felt bad because it was my fault she got hurt but I knew she had a concussion as well.

We decided to go and get dinner at noodles and it only got worse because of all the noise in the restaurant. We went to my dads to pick up his phone charger so he could call my Mom to tell her we were going to take my sister to the ER to get checked out. I tried calling her but she didn't answer, after waiting for a while my Mom came, she said that my Dad should take me and my brother home to look after the dog. It took my sister and Mom like three hours but eventually she got looked at by some physician's assistant which made my Mom mad.\

Basically I "ruined" my sisters spring break because on the Sunday night of when this happened her spring break was ending. At least we don't have to buy lift tickets for her.

NoRTH

Today I took my brother to the mall because I had to get a flash drive. Because he wanted pizza and because we were walking right by it we decided to try North. I didn't remember but the last time I saw North to Lamborghini's were parked out front. Anyways we went in and at first the people out front looked at us kind of funny, then just smiled and showed us our seats by the window

I got this delicious Pesto Chicken and my brother got spaghetti, he was at first going to get what I got but the waitress brought a kids meal which saved me like ten bucks. I wanted to go to the mall after but I realized that unless we both drank water and shared a small salad that was not going to happen.

The meal was really good, they had this delicious fresh bread that was still warm with this weird dried tomato butter. I was debating getting bruscheta (I know that's spelled wrong) after I had the bread but deiced I couldn't afford it. In total it cost me twenty-five dollars and I left a five dollar tip because I am a nice guy like that. I enjoyed it and I think my brother did to even though he said he didn't have a good mourning with me.

My LIFE in one POST

Well today should be the best day of every week better than Friday because there's is school, as a slice we will look at why each day is why it is in my life.

Sunday - today is the only day I can have sleep over due to the fact that I have early mourning skates on Saturday. I have to get picked up at like 9:30 and none of my friends want to wake up that early, even I who hates sleep. The reason I have to get picked up so early is because I have to go to Sunday School for my Jewish stuff. This forms a block because it takes up the most vital hour, most sleep over go through twelve and occasionally I would go and see a movie with someone. But by twelve people have already made plans and I get screwed over. Finally I get home and realize I have to do all the homework I "forgot" to do on Friday and Saturday

Monday - one of the biggest work days of the week, I usually do specimen today that way I forget about it over the week. I get a good amount of stuff done because tonight I don't have much time because I have ultimate, dinner and get no computer after nine. Now that hockey is over I don't have practices which sucked because I would get picked up from ultimate/basketball and then go straight to hockey and get home at ten thirty. Now I really don't hate Mondays that much but they still are better than Tuesdays

Tuesdays - arguable the worst day of the week compared to all the others. I have no work time and if my matrix's aren't good than I feel like I have wasted a day. So far I have had okay, last quarter I had mouse trap vehicle and printing which were both enjoyable but I had mourning math. Math isn't bad it just isn't work time, we do fun stuff and learn really cool things though. I have ultimate today as well so I get home later but I get a good amount of homework done tonight because I remember how I did nothing last night which remind me to not procrastinate.

Wednesday - Today is a good day we have a long meeting which is nice and then buddies which is really fun. My buddy is Alex and his sister is in my class and me and Alex email each other which is fun. I then have about two hours of good work time before lunch. Something that I did not cover is that lunch plays a large role, the company that does our food switches it up but basically we get "American" on Mondays, "Mexican" on Tuesdays, pasta on Wednesday, weird "Asian" food on Thursday and then Pizza on Friday. Today the lunch is okay. After lunch I have a little bit of work time and then math, today I have to stay in extended care which is a drab for thirty minuets. In those thirty minuets I become four square king. I go home. Not much work other than a brief glance at the challenge and looking YouTube videos my friends have been talking about.

Thursday - I have a little more work time and the matrix's all you think about is that tomorrow is FRIDAY, you have a sack lunch and then more work, math and then its Friday. For me a day starts at the end of that day unless it's a holiday or its Friday or Saturday. See Friday starts at three thirty on "Thursday and goes until about nine thirty on Friday, then Saturday Starts at four thirty Saturday and goes until I go to sleep on Sunday mourning. Sunday starts at nine thirty Sunday and goes until ten on Sunday and then Monday starts when I wake up.

FRIDAY - the king of all days, the two hours a lot gets done, most of the unit as well as the challenge and random other things. The second half people have no clue what they are doing and walk around in a trance. Lunch comes and you know you are getting close, you try and work through the next hour by not looking at a clock but every thirty seconds you glance up and notice that thirty seconds has gone by. Then Max tells us to clean up and bells go off in your head, your in the home stretch, you walk around with paper in your hand to make it look like your doing something until enough people sit down at the couch for it to make it look like you could be done with you cleaning. Talk about something and then leave, you make a run for the car, you open the door throw your backpack down and drive away with the cool breeze in your face. Go home and cram as many Infected and Team Deathmatch games in before you get picked up by your dad and then have to go to sleep at nine thirty.

SATURDAY - Wake up at 4:30, have an egg and watch whatever TV show is on, go to skating where I skate and catch up on all of the hockey "gossip." Then I go and get a Poppy seed bagel with bacon, egg and cheese all toasted at Brugers where I will occasionally see Shae and her husband after their personal trainer thingy. Get dropped off at my moms house and play X-Box for a while, then I will maybe go to a friends house or go to practice either mine or my sisters and then come home and watch a movie or play more xbox, then I go to sleep at like two on Saturday and realize my weekend is almost over.

Friday

I don't know about you guys but on Friday all I can think of is the weekend. I basically go into a survival mode, just work and never look at the clock so when its lunch or three you are surprised. This Friday is special though because its spring break and that means the weekend plus a week of no school and then another weekend. I have this problem because on Friday I will get really depressed because my break is over.

I might have done ten awesome things like gone skydiving and then scuba diving but I will still feel like I have wasted the entire break doing nothing. Even over summer break, over the first month I was really happy, school is over and I am going to have a nice break. Then the second month I go to camp, and i come back and it is thirty days later and it felt like a week. Then the last four weeks I sit around and do nothing because I am trying to decided to do something.

I am pretty sure that you people have probably not gone through this to a tee, but I hope that some of you have gone through this in your head at nine pm on Sunday.

scary story

Katie and her parents Mark and Susie Thad live in an apartment building in Deerfield, Illinois.  Katie hates school and always is getting in trouble, she also skips school.  Her parents have tried to move to different schools but she still is the same.  Katie only has one friend Cindy but she moved away to a small town in Kentucky called Kendy it has a sister called Concord.  When Cindy was around Katie was well behaved and actually did well in school and had an A average.  Mark and Susie had decided that they were going to move to Concord because there was a cheap house that was still big, and it was right next to Cindy's house.
The next day Katie came home from school and Mark and Susie told her that they were moving to a small town called Concord, at first she was angry but then she realized she would be next to Cindy. She was happy.  That night she got all of her homework done and then talked with her parents for the rest of the night.  The parents were so happy because they had never seen their daughter this happy before.
The next day they decided to check out the small town, It was a good drive and would take most of the day.  So they brought all of their clothes so that they could spend two nights there. Early the next morning they left for Concord, Kentucky. They arrived in the night and so there wasn't much to see, however they hear a strange noise almost like a camera turning on.

Chapter One
Mark had awoken early to go on a run on the road along the river that runs to the south of the town that connects Kendy and Concord.  Susie had also work up earlier to go and have a look around the town, so that left Katie all alone in the house.  Katie decided to get a breakfast going, and opened one of the cabinet's to find just dust with an insect running around a small piece of food left there.  Katie jumped back as the insect ran out of open door and down the wall into a small house.  "stupid house" she said as she shut the door, she then went around the kitchen and opened different cabinets, this process continued for a couple off minuets until she finally gave up.  After she went into the garage to get some snacks from the car.
Once she was well fed she decided to set out to find her parents. She found her mom in the park right outside of the house and found her dad a little later along the river.  By then it was almost lunch time and all three of them decided to go to the local dinner to get some lunch.  They walked in and everybody stopped looking and turned to face them, someone shouted something from the back of the dinner and everyone went back to their regular doings.
After they had ordered, someone came up to them, he introduced him self as the mayor of the town and his name was John Rogers.  He had two twins both Katie's age and sounded very happy that they were here.  He did use the word "finally" a couple times he sounded very interested in them.  The time they left it was almost 2 and they decided to go home to explore the house.  When they came home they had found all of their stuff all ready put into their rooms and their beds had been made.  They thought that this was really weird but just decided to live with it.  Katie said that she was going to walk over to Cindy’s house and say hi to her. Her parents were going to stay and bring in the rest of the items from the car into the house.
Mark and Susie decided to stay home and settle down and  get the house more “home like.” Mark went outside to get the groffceries he noticed that there was a burning smell coming from the car. He opened the hood and he  that the battery had been completely removed form the car. He also saw the wires connected to the car had also been removed. He went back inside to tell Susie what happened, when he came in he almost ran into her.  He asked her what she was doing; she said that she was going outside to go and tell him that the TV and home phones weren't working.  Then he said that the car battery had been removed from the car and that there was no wires where the battery should have gone. They both went out side and saw that the satellite dish was missing, but the podium where it sat was still there.
Katie was walking along the river wondering what she would say to Cindy when she got there because Cindy didn’t know she was coming.  She stopped and looked at the river, in the river were a procession of seven dead bodies drifting in the stream.  The bodies were all face down, and gashed on the back in blood was one word.  HELLO CINDY I CAN’T WAIT TO PLAY. There was one  last body, except this time it was face up and smiling.  Katie then took a closer look and realized that the seven bodies were all of Cindy’s family and the last body was Cindy.
Katie ran as fast as she could back to her house and the safety of her family, only stoping to throw up.  But she knew that she had too get there fast or what ever had killed Cindy would come for her next.  Little did she know that she was running in the completely wrong direction...
Chapter Two
When Katie arrived at her house it was 6pm, almost dinner time. When she turned a corner and saw her parents staring up at the roof. Mark and Susie herd Katie panting they turned around and asked her why she was back so quickly. Katie started jabbering about the dead body’s and the message written on the backs. Katie was just about to get to the part where she saw Cindy when Susie told her to slow down and try to calm down as well. Katie told her story as best as she could and when she finished her parents looked at her not knowing whether to believe her or not.
Katie not understanding why her parents weren’t freaked out, grabbed her mothers hand and started dragging her towards the river. When they arrived at the river Susie looked around and asked Katie what they were looking at. Katie said that they were looking for floating bodies. However the darkness made it impossible to see across the river.  Mark suggested that he go and get one of the flash lights that he saw in the garage back at the house. So he turned around and started walking back to the house.
After a while of looking around Katie and Susie began to wonder where mark had gone. Susie looked at her watch and saw that it was almost 7pm.  They decided to go home and look for the flashlights them selves.
When they got to their house they saw that all of the lights were on except for one room, Katie’s room. When Katie and Susie ran upstairs they found that the door was shut and there was a noise coming form inside.  When they opened the door they heard a cry so loud that Katie fell over. Susie in a trembling voice said “Mark ?”
“No” “I am not Mark, but I am very happy you are finally hear” the voice said.
The lights suddenly began flashing and Susie could make out to figures, one looked like a body split into five parts and the other was sitting up and was holding something. Then the lights went off, the next time the lights went on there was just one figure on the bed. Then the lights went off and the next time there was no one but a bloody knife.
Katie than realized that she couldn’t get up because her mother had fallen on top of her.  When she shoved her off she relived that both of her moms legs and arms were missing.  When saw this she threw up on the bed where her father was lying. He was in no better state than Susie he had his head and all of the appendages removed. Katie tried to leave but found that the door was locked. So Katie took one of her doll houses from her shelf and threw it at the door. She climbed out of the hole in the bottom of the door, ran downstairs and out the door into the yard.
When she got out side she could barely see past the road  but she did see the missing hands and leg’s. She also noticed that they were organized two words, YOUR NEXT. She looked up to the old oak tree in the front yard. Hanging on it was her mother holding a knife, on it was Marks head still smiling. When she saw this she threw up again but it was just bile because there was nothing left in her stomach.

Chapter Three
She decided to go to the dinner to get some food and to find some people to get help from. So she went into her moms bag to get some money out of her wallet, that was when she noticed her mom’s phone.
She picked it up and tried calling 911, the phone rang a couple of times and finally a raspy voice came on. “Hello Katie” it said, “don’t turn around” but it was to late, Katie had dropped the phone and was looking eye to eye with the most horrible looking “thing” ever. It looked almost like a skinny boy but it had glowing red eyes and the skin around his face seemed to be falling off. His legs were no better, they were long and skinny and had eight toes on each foot. His face was lacking basic things like nose or ears, but he did have a mouth; except for the fact that it was a scar with stitches closing it up and it seemed to move.
Katie was frozen solid she couldn’t move or even scream, she could just stand there and look at the “thing.” After a minute or two she finally was able to pull a way from the “things” grip. Katie tried to run out of the kitchen but could not get very far because as she was about to go outside the “thing” appeared in the doorway blocking her escape.
Katie decided than ran upstairs into her room, looked the door, turned off the lights and hid under her bed. After a little bit she began to calm down. When she stopped breathing so heavily she began heard heavy breathing, so she tried to relax but it wasn’t her. She turned around a saw the two same red glowing eyes a before, then it said “what are we hiding from Katie?” When Katie heard this she jumped and hit her head on the frame of her bed.
When she woke up she noticed that she was in the middle of the town, right outside of the dinner.  When she looked around she realized that she was not alone, almost everyone in the entire town was there. The mayor was standing right next to her, he turned down and spoke to her: “Hello Katie, you are finally hear, are you ready”. At this Katie began to hear everybody in the town started chanting something that Katie could not hear. She tried to stand up but saw that she was tied down to a rock right in the middle of the main area of the town.
Than the mayor began to look like he was throwing up, but instead he reached down inside his mouth and pulled a bug out. Everybody in the square began to laugh and starting chanting again. However this time they got up and started dancing around and screaming as loud as they could.
The mayor began to walk around the rock that Katie was strapped to. Upon closer inspection of the mayor Katie realized that he was wearing her father’s head on top of his head like a crown. She also saw that he had the beetle in his hands and was placing it on her leg. Soon the bug disappeared but she saw a bulge was moving up her leg, under her skin. When the bulge got to her middle section it disappeared under her shirt. But it then reappeared at her right shoulder and she could feel the little pricks of the feet walking on her muscles and bones.
The mayor then said “Katie, I believe that this is going to hurt a little. Then she could feel the bug entering her brain and start eating away at it. Katie began to scream because it was like a knife cutting away every part of your brain and then scratching and eating at the parts that were still alive. Katie continued to scream begging that the mayor take it out or just to kill her. But soon she stopped, and she felt a sharp pain in the back of her mouth as the beetle cut a hole into her throat and climbed out of her mouth an back into the hands of the Mayor. Then Katie began to cough up blood and she started to feel completely numb in her entire body.

Hockey Tryouts

I had Hockey tryouts right before this and it was really annoying because I had to play on a team with all of the younger kids who didn't could barely keep up. Because all of the kids on my team were new to hitting so they didn't know how to give or receive a hit. The older kids were destroying the little kids and the little kids were getting really scared and making dumb passes.

I really hope they don't make it because they would get really hurt if we were playing kids in Canada and they would waste the money too. Two years ago when I was a second year squirt and we were still able to hit and I went up to Chicago with the Thunderbirds. Literally the fist shift in the game and I went into the corner and got smashed. I could barely finish the game and my coach almost didn't let me play in the next games. I had to where a knee brace and put Icey Hot which is really cool stuff. When I got back to Denver I learned that I had sprained my ACL.

I have gotten a few concussions in my hockey career but other than that I have been lucky and not gotten serious hurt. Hockey injuries and injuries really suck in general because you get excited to play get hurt which sucks and then you can't play for however long.

The one good part though was that I got Ice Cream.

Two Towers

Another great book from the Lord of The Rings book, this had much more action and continued on with the splitting of the fellowship and the death of a member, in the beginning we Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn setting out to find the group of Orcs that had killed another member, I don't want to give it away, but they take Merry and Pippin.  There a great battle between a group of Riders from Rohan, which kill all of the Orcs, after herring this Legolas, Gimli and Aragorn come to the battle sight and find tracks leading into Fanghorn.  A old forest, "one of the last remnants of the forest from the days of the Elves when Man slept." I would definitely preserver through the Fellowship to get to the last two books because they are totally worth it.

Wrestling

After doing some homework, I went down to play with my brother Edison and Peaches. For a while I tried not to hurt him to much when I wrestle with him, he would just try to tackle me and to entice him in to doing this I would tell him that I couldn't use my legs. Then it was my arms and then I just turned into a punching bag for him.

What I do is a pin him or put him in a full nelson where you put his hands above his head so he can't move them. Now my brother, I'm pretty sure, has lost all sensation in his head, this is due to the fact that he will head but you showing no pain what so ever. He used to just punch people by hitting them with his hand in a fist but hit them with the palm side.

Now all he does is kicks, and he is really good at it. I think he does soccer so he can practice kicking more so he can kick me harder or vice versa. To stop this my first move in wrestling him is grabbing the legs, this can be achieved by laying one or both legs over them. Or you could grab them but he is getting really strong so getting a good grip is hard.

Once you do that get his chest and pin him from behind so he can't punch you. Now this puts you un the perfect spot for a head but so watch out, to counter this you might just takes your hand and push it up against his neck or back of the head. Make sure you don't choke him but put a good amount of pressure. Now with the last hand I would recommend tickling the lucky person, now they will squirm on purpose or just from the tickling so get a good grip on the legs, chest and head. And the most important make sure to stop right before they tell your parents or start crying and go all rage mode on you.

Dinner With Dad

So about an hour ago my father and I went to the Capital Grill, for some reason I thought it was going to be some kind of cheesy steak restaurants.  But this place was fancy, right as I walked up to the two massive wooden doors I knew I was wrong, then when I walked in and someone offered to hangup my dad and I's jacket. The food there obviously fit in perfectly with the restaurant.

My dad had bought this coupon to the Capital Grill a year ago and at the end of the month it was going to expire. It basically said that each share and appetizer, we feet our own salad, some kind of meat, a side and then desert.

For an appetizer, my dad and I shared a plate of Calamari, fried squid, there was the suckers and the body. The Calamari came with peppers and also onions. It was really good because you tasted both the fried part and the meat but one didn't over power the other.

Next I got a blue cheese and bacon wedge salad. The cheese was extremely rich and delicious and had this nice kind of ranch sauce with it. It was actually kind of hard to eat because in this big wedge, my dad said to cut it up with a knife.  When I did this, it felt like someone had cut up an entire lettuce.

Following the salad was the steak, I got stark au Povire with Courvoisier sauce. This was very filling and I got like 10 oz of it. It was basically steak with peppercorn sauce but in fancy speak, but it was really delicious. As a side my dad got truffle fires and I got asparagus which was surprisingly good.

Desert was the real kicker, at first we had our eyes set on the plain old chocolate cake. Then we saw the hazelnut chocolate cake, we asked our waiter and she said to get to hazelnut chocolate cake. When she returned she brought a massive piece of cake that probably weighed a good pound. It was straight chocolate, but it had this cream sauce that was like plain heavy whipping cream, it is good but plain half and half is better.

Right now as I right this my stomach rumbles and I groan at every little movement, but it was one of my favorite times I have been with my dad and also one of my favorite meals.

Underground Hockey

I didn't realize at first but so many people I play hockey with, no each other.  This weekend I went to this "tournament" and I played with lots of different people.  They were from all over colorado and represented some of the best kids in the state.  There were kids from the Thunderbirds and Roughriders to the Rampage and Littleton.

The thing that surprised me the most was how many people I actually knew.  In the tournament we played three games because there were four teams, I played on the Gold team and we lost every game.  The pace of the game was a lot faster than what I played at so that was a big challenge but I felt like that helped a lot.

Because a lot of my friends switched teams so It was really nice seeing them all again. It is really funny though because before I used to be pretty big, but now compared to most kids out there I am small. Which is kind of funny because most kids picture me as a really big kid, but you should see the size of some kids I play with...

Immortality

a while ago, I was asking kids around school if they would like to be immortal. What part of living forever does not excite the mind. if you were to ask a person who was terminally ill, don't you think they would say to live longer.  Well, how much longer?

After asking around I got a verity of answers, most of the little kids said that they would like to live forever. However most of the older kids said that they wouldn't.  In my opinion, we can't really begin to imagine what immortality is. What happens if we get blown up, how could we still manage to live when we don't have any part out our body.

Sure it might sound cool to live forever, I think it would be cool seeing the future but eventually it would get kind of boring. It would be really terrible seeing your children and their children dying. You would have to loose all of those family connections, and make no true friends.

The way I look at is if I could choose when to die and I slowly aged as well, that would be really cool. But if I was stuck as a 13 year old my entire life, that would suck.

Foreign Food

My baby sitter/nanny/au-piar lived in Russia for most of her life. Her name is Galina, she has none me and my family since I was ten days old. She will occasionally make food when my mom gets home from work late and doesn't want to make us food. She actually is really good at cooking and baking but occasionally will make so very odd looking stuff.

Today she made us this really weird, I don't know what to call it, but it had like rice and chicken and broccoli. But it was really good, it did have a weird texture and the rice was like really thick. She cooks a variety of food and most of them are good, some of them are really strange.

My favorite food that she makes is this really good beef stew, her specialty is soups. We are always trying to tell her to open up her own store and make whatever she wants because most of it is really good.

Staying up Late

I read somewhere that by staying up all night you burn like 160 calories.  I don't know why but I always feel really guilty about staying up all night.  At about two thirty keep your eyes open. The trick is finding something to do, even if it is eating like chips. People might say it is the sugar is the thing that keeps you up, but really it's actually doing something that keeps you up.

I have only pulled an all-nighter but unless you are with your friends it gets really hard. I recommend bringing a massive jug of water or soda with you and make sure you have chips to snack on.  Also make sure your TV is next to a bathroom so you can run over between games.

usually I won't stay up past two thirty because I can't sleep until eleven like some of my friends and I really don't want four hours of sleep. The best time for me is like 1 that way I can wake up at nine thirty so I can get like eight hours of sleep.

IFunny

I don't know if any of you have experience with IFunny, but in my opinion it is one of the best apps. It has a collection of funny videos pictures and memes, and the top 20 get selected to be "featured." Being featured is extremely lucky, there might be 134 thousands posts that day but only 20 will be selected.

There are a lot of famous comedians, escpically Will Farrell. There is a lot of jokes inside IFunny about the featuring team and how they pick the features.  Although there might be some inappropriate jokes, most are actually really funny or talk about life in a funny way.

I always check it right after school and right before and when I go to bed because a new set of features are posted every 12 hours. There is a lot of funny posts about how your reading this late at night or you said you would go to bed and then you check IFunny.

Fellowship of The Ring part II

This week I finished the Fellowship of The Ring, it was such a great book and I really enjoyed reading it. I am really excited to read the next books because once you start reading them, because there is a world that you can delve in and experience like the characters in the book. I don't want to give it a way but the book ends with the splitting up of the fellowship, to understand you must read the book. The movies are slightly different than the books but I would definitely say to read the books and then see the movie.

Monday

There is something about Monday's that makes me really tired, the fact the weekend is over and school starts again. I guess I went to sleep late last night because Peaches has this terrible bark that is like a little girl is just screaming in short little bursts. That kept me up, however, I still got like eight hours of sleep which is good for me.  I don't know why people think teenagers like sleep. Maybe one day it will hit me, but to me it is just a waste of time. I kind of get screwed over with sleep over the weekend, I have to wake up at four saturday mournings so I get like 7 hours of sleep there and then I hangout with kids Saturday night and then I get like 6 hours of sleep.

Anyways, Mondays, tiring because it is still the weekend so you think you can stay up, then monday mourning you wake up at 6:45 and you realize you were wrong.  It's not that school is boring its just that it is really hard to stay focused when your nice and warm and your tired and its kind of quiet.  But I am going to try and get more sleep because there have been studies and that sort of stuff.

The Puppy and The Go Cart

Two awesome thing happened today. One I got my puppy and I also built a cool go cart and drove it down my alley.  I will start with the Go Cart, we took one of the carts that has one set of wheels and you can carry boxes with.  Then me and my friends, Jackson and Charlie took a scooter and tied it to the front so our cart had three wheels. We then took string and tied the long tube connected to the handlebars to the cart so it would't move, for breaks we put filled a couple of tires with bricks to stop them from moving.  Finally to make it more comfortable we laid carpet on the top and a stuffed brief case to make a seat.

My alley is a big hill starting at the top of the street. It was a perfect place for go carts, except for 8th avenue which was at the bottom.  We put a lot of tires so we would not run into the street and get plowed by a truck. Me and my two friends went down together and it worked, we didn't go all the way up though.  After many successful runs me and Jackson, being the thrill seeking boys we are, decided to go without using our feet to slow us down.  We went all the way to the top this time, right of the bat we started picking up speed. Jackson kept telling me to slow down but I kept us straight, to screw with him I shook the wheel back and forth and we almost tipped over.

We hit the small tires ahead of the main ones and blew those away, right then I thought that those bigger tires weren't going to do much either.  Right after we tore through the two main tires I freaked out, 8th avenue was fifteen feet way. Right as I swerved to the left to avoid the street, Jackson bailed taking me with him. This caused the cart to tip and careen to the right and safely avoid the street.  After all of us laughing hysterically, looking at the large scrape in the pavement and seeing how close to death we were, we decided to go again. With of course a recycling bin behind each tire.

Next the puppy, we had not seen Peaches in a week and I was really surprised at how big she has gotten.  Since we first saw here, she easily could have doubled in size, and weight. Even though she is very small and very adorable, my favorite part about her is all of the wrinkles around her body and face.  Charlie and Jackson liked her a lot, they are also really happy because my old dog Ranger scared them.

He was a big dog, 130 pounds and was all muscle, he stood three and a half feet off the ground and had a viscous set of teeth. He could get things on counters four feet off the ground, even if they were pushed all the way against the wall. There were very few Ranger free zones. He was very protective, because my TV is in my basement and so was his crate, I would have to drape a blanket over his crate so he would not bark at people. My family loved him very much but we had to give him back to the breeder because he was getting aggressive even towards my mother.

Now that I have Peaches, I think people will not be as afraid of my dog as they were before.

The Concert

Today I went to the Imagine Dragons concert.  The first band to play, was a little to loud for the kind of music they were playing.  The first and second bands had no songs that I had known about until the last song they played which I really liked.

Then Imagine Dragons started playing, they played a bunch of songs I didn't know about. Then their lead singer dedicated a song to this kid who had died of cancer, and he talked about how much it effected him. It was really awesome because everyone got their iPhone flashlights out and did the lighter thingy.

Then they stared playing It's Time which everyone went crazy about, he let the audience sing a lot which was fun, then they played On Top of the World and then they followed that with Demons.  The last song they played was Radioactive, then they finished.  Everyone was screaming encore encore, and finally they came out and preformed one last song.  It was bleeding out and it was awesome.

The Play

Yesterday I went to the AS play. I was really surprised at how good everyones voices were, especially Max D and John W. I had never known that they had really good voices, I had just kind of overlooked them. I also thought that the background for the play and all of the houses were really well done.

I did not think that any songs were catchy, the only one that was close to getting stuck in my head was the Cookie Cookie Cookie song. My favorite song was Adian's solo, about him taking off his shell, also it was geta load of Toad. The costumes were really well done, and I thought it was just a great play overall.

The Hockey Team

Tonight was my last practice, I didn't think that six months ago when my coach said the seasons would go by fast.  Now sitting here I think that had to be my favorite season, the two prior years were okay.  When I played on the Thunderbirds, I didn't really have that good of a social experience. I learned so much on that team, but the kids were all really mean to me and I only had two true friends.  I also really didn't get to know the coaches that well.

This year was completely different,I knew everyone before the season started so that was a really big help. I also thought that because I wasn't playing on a AAA team everyone was a lot more chill and not as rushed.  This kind of bothered me, but I really was happy.  I got a better so that was good, but hockey really became an escape for me. No matter how much we skated every day before practice I waited till I could talk with people that I felt I had an equal playing field.

At practice I was never trying to keep up with the conversation or felt like I was a part of the conversation. I got one of my best friends this year and also made so many more friendships that kids a school can not see me have.

Little Brothers

To you a little brother might be cool or awesome or what ever. But when your brother can actually hurt you, plus the fact that he is younger and can get away with it, it is not fun.  On the car ride home, Charlie B and I were tickling my little brother, I was wearing a sweatshirt and I was holding Edison's arms.  He turned over and bit me through my shirt, he almost drew blood and made big lump in my forearm. This is not first incident, he will always will kick me in the shins when I will literally look at him with a weird expression.

Once when I was curling him he repeatedly kneed me in the head until I put him down, then kicked him in the butt. He got mad and I told him he was asking for it, he then got really mad at me for picking him up and then proceeded to kick me over and over.  Although it isn't good for him, and don't tell my parents, but it is kind of funny when he goes all Hulk on me and chases me throughout the house.  After though, I wil usually get in trouble so it really isn't worth it.

Sometimes, my brother can be fun and I want to play with him a lot more than what actually happens but the few times we actually do, he is really fun to play with.  He is surprisingly strong so I almost don't have to hold back if we are wrestling, and he has the craziness to him which make you get even more hyper around him.  All in all I love my brother, he is cute and adorable but has a nasty mean side you do not want to mess with. I defiantly wouldn't want to have anyone else be my little brother.

The Fellowship of The Ring - J.R.R. Tolkien

I really liked this book, I am half way done with it, because it is a huge book filled with amazing descriptions of every place the four Hobbits went.  I first watched the movies and I, personally, thought that they were amazing.  They captured the magic and darkness and every emotion and sense they felt, it made it feel like you were there. However, after reading only half, I now realize that the movies were nothing compared to the book's, like always, so much of the story was left out or changed.  The one thing I like most about all of the Lord of the Rings book's was that Tolkien created this complete universe that you can almost walk around in, its not like one book, or even the Harry Potter series where there's Hogwarts and Hogsmede.  No I mean an entire world full of rich detail that you can search until you heart is content. Any who if this didn't make you read any of the books, read them to prove me wrong then.

Playing With the Dads

The last time my team played the parents we were wholly unprepared for how good they were actually going to be.  It turned out that our coach had recruited guys from the team he had played on as well as dads of kids on my team.  We only had one of our goalies and he decided to trade gear with one of our players so we had a terrible goalie. We still had a great time, our coach is usually a goalie and he dressed up and half way through the game they switched.

But today, my friends Jackson's brother, Andrew, came out and he is big.  He is 15, 6'3" and like 200 pounds and he went for all of the hits. He said that if anyone could knock him over that he would pay them ten dollars, one of our kids  planted him and he kind of sulked off.

Before all of this happened though we had dry-land. Today was cool we scrimmaged the PeeWee A's which were like ten years old. At first I would just pass it and try not to hit the little ones, but affter they started hitting us and scoring, our team took it up a notch and full on leveling kids. I would try and juke all of the little kids but they outnumbered us and would swarm the puck like bees.  At the end I apologized to all of them.

Anyways, today halfway through me and Andrew were skating into the zone and he abruptly turned up. Because I was bending over and he was a good deal taller than me, his shoulder went straight into my head.  That wasn't the worst part, my legs shot straight into the air and I fell like a rock.  I landed straight onto my hip and it hurt like a "female dog." I could barley skate because most of the strength you get skating, and walking, comes from your hips.  So walking back from the car I could barely move, and I still had to carry my hockey bag.

Today

Because today we pushed the clocks an hour and the day was so nice out, my family and I decided to eat outside on our patio.  We made brats, salad and beans which were all delicious. Our patio overlooks 8th avenue so it is usually loud, but today it was quiet.  I made most of it which was fun because, I hadn't grilled in a while.  Before dinner my family and I went out and saw our puppy, Peaches.  We are all really excited although a bit sad because all of the puppies were extremely adorable and we were sad we couldn't take them all. None the less, we were happy to see our puppy, she got a lot bigger since last time but she is still small and cute as can be.

What makes me really mad though was when my mom told my family that we were not going to get two puppies, my brother and sister got really mad.  They were mad because they wanted it and my sister didn't believe any of the research, however, I could understand it better than them.  Don't get me wrong I wanted to puppies but all the stuff my mom was saying made a lot of cense and we really couldn't do anything about it. But to them it looked like I didn't care at all and i "never loved them" which was really annoying because I loved both of the dogs but my brother and sister didn't seem to care.  Anyways, we are all exciting and here is a picture.

The lady in the background is the foster mom that we are getting her from.

The DU Game

Yesterday, I know I am late, my whole team and I went to the DU game.  I was dropped off at a Chipolte and the fun started, my friend tried to trick me into thinking she went to his school, so I would walk up say hi to her.  Then my entire team started trying to guess her name by kind of quietly saying random names, some of them were really weird.  Then we drove over and the entire car ride we were fighting over two drumstick and we were beating each other with them.

When we got there we had to wait because some kids forgot their stuff, so we started throwing snowballs at the other kids in our group. It turned out that the snow was mostly ice so you were really trying to not get hit.  When we finally got to the game we found our seats and sat down to watch the game, we started fighting a little and this kids dad freaked out on all of us, except for his own son.

After the first period it was zero to zero and all the kids got up and walked around DU, between the games they had these two teams of fans go onto the ice and launch rubber chickens into baskets.  A lot of the time most of the people were just wiping out and sliding all over the place so that was fun.  As I said previously we went to Chipolte, that was because we were "sponsored" by DU so we got free burritos, and due to that we were on the jumbo-tron.  We were all going to take off our shirts, but that kids dad gave us a dirty look that said I will kill you if you do that, basically.

In the second period, people up in the rafters dropped coupons, one was slowly fluttering down towards our group. It was heading to the row below me but all the kids there were on my team so I dove onto them to get it.  The dad I keep talking about saw this mad scramble and grabbed me by the shirt and threw me back into my seat, like I think I got airborne for a little there. The rest of the game went by very quietly and I made a run for it when I was getting picked up, even though my dad was 45 minuets late.

What to Write

What to write, right now I am kind of hitting a little bit of a writers block. Right now I really have no idea what to write about, I honestly have no clue. Right now I am literally going through my mind searching every corner of it and, nothing. I can't even make something up right now I am just blanking, it is like there is a void that has opened up in my mind.

I have to go to bed really soon because I have to go to practice soon, so lets talk about procrastination. I know no one person who can say they have never procrastinated ever. I am not talking about not doing a three week project until the last day. I am talking about people who the moment they get home they do homework and nothing but homework until they are done.

I have been working on this problem but when I get home I sit down get an apple or just sit and look out the window. I don't remember a day when I got home and went straight to work, even when I knew I was loaded with homework.  It has to be something you are born with because I feel that you cant cure procrastination but only live with it.

Video Games

Before last Hanukah I only played games on my computer, I played Minecraft and Lego Lord of the Rings (don't hate I spent $20.00 on it so its worth it.) Then I got my Xbox, this allowed me to play with all of my friends. I think video games are actually cool, not like the actual content, but how all it is, is just lines of codes. And the complicity of it just amazes me, take GTA 5.

This game might have a bad reputation, but first the extremely large map where there is not one inch that looks extremely detailed. Then the fact that you can drive hundreds of things from bicycles to jumbo jets. You can literally go and play a match of tennis and then finish with jet-skiing on the ocean at sun-set. There is no end to the limit to what you can do in the game.

I know they might rot your brains and make you dumb and stuff like that, but being able to go out steal and helicopter, fly to the tallest building and sky dive off. Then drive around of the highway going 200kmh crash hundreds off times, while causing zero harm to yourself or any else. Well that sounds kind of captivating to me.

Practices - Rowan Barnes

Before the end of my season I had about two or three practices a week, two would be on the week and then one on the weekend.  If we had a game that wouldn't change anything, we would skate a good deal then undress, eat a meal and then get yelled at by our coach because he said we looked tired. Anyways, late night practices. You have to leave the house buy 6:45 to get there on time, if just one person is late we all suffer, than dry-land goes from 7:15 to 8:15 and then we get 15 minuets to get dressed. Than from about 8:30 to 9:30 we do a whole bunch of suicides because coach felt like we hadn't done them in a while.

Basically you get home at 10:00 and if you procrastinate, you usually are up until 11:00 doing math or whatever. Now these aren't the worst, I enjoy skating so no matter how many ladders, suicides, we do it's still fun.  However the worst and most hated of all, early mourning practice. They come twice a week, Wednesday mourning and Saturday mournings, I have to get up at 4:30 both mournings eat a scrambled egg with a cut up banana and watch old Sponge Bob episodes. It is truly terrible, occasionally I will have a practice late Friday night and then get like 6 hours of sleep plus three and a half hours of hockey.

Now you might ask me why I still do all of these, part of it is that my dad wont let me skip it. The other reason being that I believe that the sacrifice is worth the reward of being the best.

Although this might sound weird, one of the greatest things my Rabbi every taught me was about happiness. He gave an example, if an Alien were to land on the Earth and walk into gym. And in that gym he looked through a window and saw a man dripping with sweat and a pained expression on his face. The alien would think there was a guy with a gun just out of the view of the window forcing him to do this, then when the alien walks in and sees there is no one standing there, he is confused why people would purposely put themselves through all that pain. My Rabbi than said that today people think that pain and happiness are opposites. When in truth, they go hand in hand. If you ask a parent what their greatest joy is they would say their kids, now ask them what their greatest pain is, and they will still say their kids. Joy and Pain go together, so without pain there is not real joy.

That is why I continue to dedicate my mournings to skating, because without that pain I wouldn't have the joy of playing in high school or college or even pro.

Fahrenheit 451 Ray Bradbury

I just want to say something, it turns out that my mom did some research (a little late if I do add) and she found that getting two puppies can cause serious problems.  One and the not so severe one is the puppies will bond to closely with each other and make it nearly impossible to train them. However this can lead to depression when they get separated. Also, they might fight to determine the Alpha among the "pact." So we are still getting one puppy but don't know which one yet.

Anyway I read Fahrenheit 451, it was a really good book.  It was started out focusing on a man named Guy Montag and he was a fire fighter.  But in this story fire fighters don't put out fires they start them, they burn books and the houses they are hidden in.  It was an egocentric society, and the government controlled almost everything.  It was a really short book but had small text and a lot of ideas and description contained in it.  In the last pages of the book a man talked about how humans were like a phoenix, they would burn themselves only to be reborn and then repeat the process, and I think that might be true.

The Avalanche Game

Yesterday my friend and I went to the Avalanche game with my friend Charlie.  I play hockey and when he has an extra ticket he invites me.  This year his dads friend had season tickets on the glass, right next to the opposing teams penalty box.  His dad sat in the box with people that worked with the man that gave us the tickets.  Charlie and I walked around at the beginning of the game and I got 100 hockey cards and a bacon beer braut.  The people running the gave me a hard time because it was a "beer" braut so they need some kind of identification.  I told them I had left my I.D. in my other pants so they let me go.

We walked down and found our seats, they were really good because you could basically see the entire ice and watch the big hits right in front of your eyes. The game we went to turned out to be Military appreciation night so during warm ups the Avs wore Camo jerseys which were really cool. They played a whole bunch of videos from soldiers on tour and also had special things for the families. During the first period the Avs scored twice while the lightning from Tampa Bay score once. Both teams were playing really well and there wasn't any penalties yet.

Charlie and I walked down to get these really good fruit shish kabob that were covered in white and dark chocolate.  They were really good but were on the other side of the stadium so by the time we got back to our seats the puck was dropped. In the second period the Lightning scored twice making the score two to three but the game was really intense.  Finally the Lightning got a penalty with a minute thirty left in the game.  When the guy got in the box I realized this guy was huge, he was six and a half feet tall and was towering over the man who was working the box. The period ended and the Avs hadn't tied the game yet.

Five minuets into the third period the Avs scored and tied it at three a piece. But the Avs were not satisfied so ten minuets later the Avs scored again with a beautiful shot from my second favorite player, Erik Johnson, he was at the top of the circle and caught the puck turned around and shot it. The score was now four to three favoring the Avs, with two minuets left the Lightning pull their goalie and get an extra player.  Nick Holden a defense man backhanded the puck way over the head of the Lightning player and into the back of the open net of the other end.  With the score now five to three people started leaving.  The Lightning pulled their goalie one last time to get a goal and with 6 seconds left Paul Stasny stole the puck and shot it down into the wide open net. Although the score might have been six to three, it was still a great game to watch.

Puppies

In my previous blogs I had talked about how I had to give a way my previous dog because he attacked to many people.  Well today and last Sunday my family and I went all the way down to Littleton to see our new dogs.  When we got there we saw a pink bucket filled with little squirming puppies, I was really happy because this was the first time I was going to have puppies.  A couple days ago my mother told me that we were going to get two puppies, and my brother and sister  went berserk.  The last two days were really cold so the puppies were shivering, I took one of the puppies we were going to get (Jasper) and put him down my shirt so his head stuck out the top of my shirt.

We are also getting a girl dog named Peaches, they are both really awesome and I cant wait to get them because they have to get fixed and then they need to rest but by next week we should have them

San Deigo

Last week I had a hockey tournament in San Diego, most of my team stayed at a resort called The Rancho Bernardo Inn. It was really elegant, the buildings were looked like villas but had very modern insides. The main building, however, was very old and rustic with low lying beams and stucco walls.  There was a winery connected to the resort as well as a country club, two golf courses, driving range, three pools and a separate spa and work-out facilities. My friend and I went golfing and drove golf carts around, my team went driving a lot because it was free.

We went to the pool a lot, which was heated, so at night we would come and swim and occasionally go in the hot tub. One of the most stupid things we did was take the limes that were going off the trees and play a sort of dodge ball with them. There would be a couple of kids who were out of the pool who would throw at the kids in the pool. We would hit each other quite often so people would end up with bruises covering their chest and legs, but the best part was the pool smelled heavily of lime.

The resort had three restaurants that provided breakfast, lunch and dinner and they were all really good.  The resort also had lots of open areas to run around in and play tag in. Even though all of the other guests were old people, business tycoons taking a weekend off or people going to play golf and not wanting their days ruined by children.

In San Diego I went to In and Out Burgers twice, they are like the Noodles of Colorado. We only had a game a day so we had a lot of time off which was really nice right after EXPO. Halfway through a couple of my friends went to a Zoo/Safari park which sounded really dumb but turned out to be really fun. We got to see a Cheetah run at full speed which was surprisingly fast, like 60MPH, and we also got to see a lot of different animals in a massive outdoor par. Then we went to the beach to cool of. The water was really cold it hurt to go in it, at first going under water hurt your head.

Intro

Welcome,

This blog is part of a whole bunch of different others that will be posting slices of life.  The March Challenge is a challenge where one most post 31 of the slices of life's every day of March.  My class and I are participating in this as well as other classes all over the world.  Anyways, my Unit was Chocolate and Futuristic Space Travel, so you can see at my school you can really study almost anything. I play hockey for the Jr Pioneers and have been playing for almost eight years.
